The Australian Government will invest around $40 billion on child care support over the next four years. This significant investment includes an increase of more than $3 billion to support the implementation of the Jobs for Families Child Care Package. The department will support the implementation of the package by delivering a range of programmes to help families access quality child care.

Australia’s higher education system is made up of universities and other institutions that play a critical role in fuelling innovation, driving productivity and giving students the skills they need for future success. The Australian Government supports higher education through policies, funding and programmes.
The Government is seeking to implement changes to higher education to create a system that is higher in quality, more accessible, more competitive and more sustainable.
To achieve these objectives, the Government remains committed to delivering policies that ensure our higher education sector delivers the educational opportunities and research outcomes Australia needs to succeed in the future. The Government is consulting with students, their parents, institutions, employers, Senators and other stakeholders to ensure ongoing, fair and sustainable support for an adaptive, world-class higher education system, with equitable access for students. The Government has released a consultation paper on options for reform and invites feedback by 25 July 2016.
To provide certainty to the Australian higher education community as this consultation process is undertaken, the Government has determined that 2016 and 2017 higher education arrangements will be the same as 2015.
