Online higher educationBOULDER—Montana Commissioner of Higher Education Clayton Christian was elected Nov. 10 as new chair of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE)—the interstate agency for public higher education in the Western United States—at WICHE’s fall Commission meeting in Denver.

As chair through November 2018, Christian will lead WICHE’s 48-member commission of higher education executives and influencers.

Tuition and Fees in Public Higher Education in the West

Online higher educationThe most definitive annual resource on tuition and fees at the U.S. West’s 350+ public colleges and universities. This year we see average tuition/fees for resident undergraduates at two- and four-year institutions increased 4.3 percent and 4.0 percent this past year, and 40.8 percent and 54.3 percent this past decade.

While six of 15 WICHE states saw undergraduate student fees at four-year institutions jump 100+% this past decade, sharp fee cuts in California and South Dakota led to an aggregate fee decrease.

The 2016-17 WICHE Student Exchange Program report covers fall 2016 enrollments for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE), the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP), and the Professional Student Exchange Program (PSEP). It details the funds that flow between students’ home states and the enrolling PSEP institutions that receive them and also provides detailed enrollment for participating WRGP programs and WUE institutions.
